“My story is one of transitions; from Catholic to agnostic; from Labour to Conservative; from RAF to student; and from man to woman. A thread does run through them all and I will, in my own way, try to explain how they are related” - Josephine O’Carroll⁣ ⁣ ⁣ You can read the full piece by clicking the link in our bio⁣ ⁣ •⁣ •⁣ •⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #womeninpolitics #britishpolitics #ukpolitics #womeninwork #femaleentrepreneurs #empoweringwomen #womensrights #parliament #womenshistory #herstory #houseofcommons #conservatives #conservativeparty #electwomen #herhouseuk #womenempowerment #inspiringwomen #femaleempowerment #genderequality #voteconservative #womenleadership #lgbttories #feminsm
“Those chastising a woman for liking a ‘dick pic’ shows the imbalance of gender that is still ripe within politics. Like all the ‘dick pics’ you want Sally, you have my full support. Today marks 101 years since the passing of the Representation of the People Act 1918, which extended the franchise to men over 21 and allowed the first women to vote. It wasn’t until 1928 that women would get electoral equality with men, being entitled to vote at age 21, regardless of whether they owned property. December 14th 1918 marked the first election where women were entitled to vote.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ You can read the full piece by clicking the link in our bio⁣ ⁣ •⁣ •⁣ •⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #womeninpolitics #britishpolitics #ukpolitics #womeninwork #femaleentrepreneurs #empoweringwomen #womensrights #parliament #womenshistory #herstory #houseofcommons #conservatives #conservativeparty #electwomen #herhouseuk #womenempowerment #inspiringwomen #femaleempowerment #genderequality #voteconservative #womenleadership #teamtory #feminsm
On Thursday, I got the chance to interview Helen Whately, MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, and Conservative Party Vice-Chair for Women. We spoke about being both a conservative and a feminist, an issue we’re both passionate about promoting. Following the party’s summer announcement of an aim to reach a 50/50 candidates list, we discussed how to encourage more women to stand for public office and taking down the barriers which prevent women from running for election.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ You can read the full piece by clicking the link in our bio⁣ ⁣ •⁣ •⁣ •⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #womeninpolitics #britishpolitics #ukpolitics #womeninwork #femaleentrepreneurs #empoweringwomen #womensrights #parliament #womenshistory #herstory #houseofcommons #conservatives #conservativeparty #electwomen #herhouseuk #womenempowerment #inspiringwomen #femaleempowerment #genderequality #voteconservative #womenleadership #teamtory #feminsm
The Women and Work All Party Parliamentary Group launched their “How To Recruit Women for the 21st Century” report and toolkit yesterday, which features a number of policy recommendations for the government and practical suggestions for employers who want to improve their recruitment processes. The report and its accompanying toolkit “aims to go some way towards bridging the gap between the willingness to commit to a more balanced gender distribution in the workplace and the challenges of achieving this“.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ You can read the full piece by clicking the link in our bio⁣ ⁣ •⁣ •⁣ •⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #womeninpolitics #britishpolitics #ukpolitics #womeninwork #femaleentrepreneurs #empoweringwomen #womensrights #parliament #womenshistory #herstory #houseofcommons #conservatives #conservativeparty #electwomen #herhouseuk #womenempowerment #inspiringwomen #femaleempowerment #genderequality #voteconservative #womenleadership #teamtory #feminsm
“I am a Conservative and I am a feminist” are nine little words that are likely to set your Twitter notifications off on a riot. Rarely a day goes past without someone telling us that we can’t possibly be a Conservative and be a feminist because the two cannot co-exist – supposedly. It isn’t just Conservative activists who have such insults thrown at them, not even the second female Prime Minister can escape such remarks. More often than not, it is other women who are telling us what we can and cannot be.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ You can read the full piece by clicking the link in our bio⁣ ⁣ •⁣ •⁣ •⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #womeninpolitics #britishpolitics #ukpolitics #maternityleave #femaleentrepreneurs #empoweringwomen #womensrights #parliament #womenshistory #herstory #houseofcommons #conservatives #conservativeparty #electwomen #herhouseuk #womenempowerment #inspiringwomen #femaleempowerment #genderequality #voteconservative #womenleadership #teamtory
