The top 6 Christmas gifts for your political pal

Have you got a political pal on your Christmas list this year? Whether they’re a staffer in the Palace of Westminster, work for the government or are part of a think tank, finding the perfect gift doesn’t have to be tough.

Here are my six top gift picks for your political pal that are sure to win you a New Year’s drink in Strangers.

Back up battery – we’ve all been there – scrabbling around for a charger or looking for a plug socket to top up your phone. Make sure you’re prepared for when you need extra juice for an epic tweeting session or for taking selfies with your favourite politico with a back up battery. This one is suitably fancy  and comes in party political colours.

The latest political tome – use the Christmas break to catch up on some new releases. I’m giving Michelle Obama’s new autobiography, ‘Becoming’ to my political friends this year – and Britain’s Best Political Cartoons for those that can’t bear to be away from the bubble during recess.

Some swish shoes – if you follow my Instagram, then you’ll know that I have a penchant for shoes (and like taking selfies of them!) The hard floors of the Palace play havoc on your feet, so give them a treat with a pair of flats. Your shoes don’t have to be as serious as the environment we all work in. Take inspiration from the Prime Minister by investing in a pair from Russell & Bromley – the sparklier and fiercer the better!

Reusable tote – for carrying your lunch or those extra files for your MP, get a reusable tote that’ll be the talk of the Westminster village. Scrap those dull free ones you snagged at conference, and get one of these epic Women2Win ‘We Make Them Prime Minister’ ones instead.

House of Commons Christmas decoration – deck the halls with something worthy of Prime Ministerial approval. Of course my favourite is the No 10 door – but I also love this bauble.

A festive mug – give your pal’s daily cuppa a festive upgrade with a politically themed mug. Other political options are available!
